EVENT: Formula Drift Round 6: Point of Impact @ Sonoma, CA
The latest Formula Drift Professional Drifting Championship Series Round 6: Point of Impact was held at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. Infineon Raceway hosted the event in the rustic surroundings of Sonoma, amidst the backdrop of wine country. Infineon Raceway is one of the fastest tracks in the Formula Drift series. The drivers utilized a portion of the track, starting out with a straight-away followed by a fast right-hand turn. Prior to Round 6, point leader Vaughn Gittin, Jr. entered with 439 points.
Not far behind were Daijiro Yoshihara in the Discount Tire / Falken Tire Nissan S13 with 417 points, Tanner Foust in the Rockstar Energy Scion TC with 386 points, Ryan Tuerck in the Mobil 1 / Maxxis / Gardella Racing Pontiac Solstice with 361 points, and Darren McNamara in the Falken Tire Saturn Sky with 342 points.
Tyler McQuarrie (Falken Tire Nissan 350Z #17), winner of Round 5: After Dark, was ousted by Tanner Foust in his Rockstar Energy Scion TC during the Top 16.
The semi-finals came down to Tanner Foust vs. Ryan Tuerck in the Mobil 1 / Maxxis / Gardella Racing Pontiac Solstice and Vaughn Gittin, Jr. #25 Monster Energy / Falken Tire For Mustang vs. Chris Forsberg #64 and his NOS Energy Drink / CFR Nissan 350Z.
Ryan Tuerck moved on the Finals with a victory over Foust.
On the other hand, Gittin, Jr. and his Monster Energy / Falken Tire Ford Mustang moved on the Finals with a victory over Forsberg #64 NOS Energy Drink / CFR Nissan 350Z.
The final battle pitted points leader Vaughn Gittin, Jr. in the Monster Energy / Falken Tire Ford Mustang versus Ryan Tuerck in the Mobil 1 / Maxxis / Gardella Racing Pontiac Solstice.

With less than a month to go, the Championship will be decided in Round 7: Title Fight at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, CA on October 8-9.
