Adam LZ Is Going All-In On FD For 2025
Due to time constraints, LZ will focus on fighting for the Formula DRIFT title in 2025, (mostly) withdrawing from the European Drift Masters series.
After competing in both Drift Masters and Formula DRIFT in 2024, pro drifter and popular YouTuber Adam LZ announced that he’ll change his racing plans for the 2025 season.
Instead of competing on both continents, he’ll focus primarily on FD while stepping back from his involvement in the European Drift Masters Grand Prix (DMGP) series.
LZ cited that lack of time is the primary reason behind this decision. Running three businesses - LZMFG, Drift HQ, and SimHQ - alongside his content creation commitments has become increasingly difficult, especially with the added demands of travel to Europe for Drift Masters events.
Despite this, he’ll still participate in the Drift Masters European Championship as a wildcard entry in the insane Poland stadium final in front of 50,000+ drift fans. We can’t blame him for not wanting to miss that one!
LZ silenced his critics with his 2024 campaign, especially his consistent Formula DRIFT performances, bagging multiple podium finishes and a fifth-place overall ranking. He puts this success down to his reliable 3.4L 2JZ engine setup and the strong support from his team.
In addition to Drift HQ’s in-house product development and FD plans, they’ve recently collaborated with renowned brands such as Wisefab to test innovative drifting upgrades.
LZ seems confident that he’s got a good chance of becoming a Formula DRIFT champion, stating, “I genuinely think I have what it takes to be a champion in FD. We’ve got the team, we know what we need in the car, so it’s really just me, and I think I can make it happen.”
He believes that success in Formula DRIFT combines “30% driver skill and 70% car and team performance,” and it sure looks like he has a strong and reliable team behind him.
