Assetto Corsa EVO Xbox Release Date
With the confirmation that Assetto Corsa 2 is now named Assetto Corsa EVO, when will the new racing sim reach Xbox consoles?

When it comes to racing and drifting simulators, very few titles can match the realism and intensity of Assetto Corsa, especially for console gamers. Originally released for PC in 2014, the Italian-developed racing simulator from Kunos Simulazioni was meant to hit the shelves in April 2016.
Due to the inevitable hiccups that come with such an ambitious project to ensure the console version lived up to the high standards set by its PC counterpart, there was a delay. Eventually, European Xbox owners finally got to appreciate what AC offers on August 26th, 2016, with U.S. gamers getting treated several days later.
Now that the latest game in the series, Assetto Corsa EVO, is officially announced and confirmed for an early access Steam release date of January 16, 2025, when can we expect it to hit Xbox Series X|S, and will it be coming to the Xbox One? Let’s find out.
TL;DR – Assetto Corsa EVO Xbox Latest Updates
- “Other systems” beyond PC officially confirmed – expected to be Xbox and PlayStation
- No official Xbox release date yet
- PC early access release date confirmed for January 16, 2025
- Xbox release date likely to be late 2025/early 2026 based on previous trends
- Xbox One release is unlikely due to hardware limitations
- Mods not expected for Xbox consoles – will likely remain PC-exclusive
When Will Assetto Corsa EVO Be Released On Xbox Series X|S?
While much of the focus has been on the PC version until now, Xbox Series X|S players are inevitably in for a treat; we expect you’ll just need to wait a little longer!
We know the PC version is confirmed for early access release on January 16, 2025. However, there’s no official release date for Assetto Corsa EVO on Xbox consoles yet, despite Digital Bros, Kunos Simulazioni’s parent company, confirming that EVO will come to “other systems.”
Based on previous release patterns for Assetto Corsa games, we can make some educated guesses about the Xbox release timeline:
- The O.G. Assetto Corsa came to consoles about 18 months after its PC release
- Assetto Corsa Competizione hit consoles a little over a year after its PC launch
Although the developers may have found a way of launching things quicker now that they’re more knowledgeable about console ports from the two previous games, we recommend that Xbox players expect a little wait.
Going by previous trends, we’ll likely see the Assetto Corsa EVO Xbox launch sometime in mid to late 2025 or even early 2026. It’s worth noting that console ports often take additional time to optimize, so patience will be key.
When the game eventually arrives, Xbox Series X|S owners can likely expect to experience the game in all its 4K glory alongside 60 FPS, providing stunning visuals. We just hope they can get the drifting tire smoke to match the expectations that the current mods have set!
Has The Xbox One Crossed The Finish Line?
The Xbox One is over ten years old now, yet it continues to receive some triple-A titles well into the current console generation. However, while Xbox Series X|S owners will likely have reason to celebrate with the upcoming AC EVO release, we don’t recommend that Xbox One players pop the just cork yet. Although neither Kunos Simulazioni nor their parent company, Digital Bros, have officially ruled out an Xbox One version, several factors suggest it won’t be on the cards this time.
Many developers are now moving away from cross-gen releases to maximize the potential of the newer hardware – in this case, the Xbox Series X|S. With AC EVO likely pushing the boundaries of the flagship Xbox console, we expect it to be too demanding for the aging Xbox One hardware.
Given these considerations, Xbox One owners should have realistic expectations. It’s increasingly likely that Assetto Corsa EVO may be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S on the Microsoft console front. However, in the meantime, it might present the perfect opportunity to keep your eyes peeled for a cheap Xbox Series X|S in the sales.
Is Assetto Corsa EVO A Spin-Off?
Assetto Corsa EVO is not a spin-off like Assetto Corsa Competizione. Instead, it’s essentially Assetto Corsa 2 – the sequel to the much-loved Assetto Corsa.
This means players can expect a diverse roster of vehicles, including drift cars, and more variety with the tracks, similar to the first Assetto Corsa, rather than the racing-specific GT3-only-focused Competizione, which completely ignored the drifting aspect of AC.
Assetto Corsa EVO Xbox Mods
One of the biggest questions surrounding Assetto Corsa EVO on Xbox is whether it will support mods. Modding has arguably been the most crucial aspect of the Assetto Corsa experience on PC, allowing fans to create their dream drift cars, the ultimate drifting layouts, and game enhancements that have completely revolutionized AC.
Unfortunately, mod support for consoles is extremely difficult to implement. While some games like SnowRunner have managed to bring mods to consoles, it’s a complex process that requires significant development resources and cooperation from platform holders.
At this point, there’s no official word on mod support for Assetto Corsa EVO on Xbox, and even the details for PC gamers are vague. However, given the history of console racing sims, we’d be surprised if AC EVO allowed mods. The PC version likely remains the platform for those seeking extensive modding capabilities – how in-depth those will be this time around is yet to be seen.
We sure hope we’re wrong, though!
