Can Torque Drift 2 Fill The CarX Drift Racing 3 Void?
Torque Drift 2 arrives on Steam, bringing licensed cars with damage, real-world tracks, and official partnerships as PC gamers await CarX’s next move.
Grease Monkey Games recently released Torque Drift 2 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and its arrival comes at an interesting time.
While mobile gamers are busy enjoying the newly-released CarX Drift Racing 3, PC drifting game enthusiasts are still waiting their turn, and it may take a while.
With CarX Technologies’ notorious reputation for lengthy development cycles, Torque Drift 2’s latest update may have arrived at the perfect moment.
We’re super impressed with the new trailer, and let’s take a look at why we feel it could potentially become a perfect CarX Drift Racing 3 alternative.
Just like its competitor, Torque Drift 2 lets players experience launching off the legendary Ebisu Minami jump. You can also explore the rest of the Ebisu complex and its various challenging courses and layouts.
Where Torque Drift 2 sets itself apart is through its roster of real-world licensed vehicles, including the Subaru BRZ and Honda S2000, complemented by a similar unlimited palette paintshop system.
The tuning options also extend to a selection of widebody kits, allowing you to craft your perfect ride.
Unlike CarX, Torque Drift offers a huge selection of aftermarket partnerships featuring genuine aftermarket parts from renowned brands like Rotiform.
The latest 0.12 update brings an exciting collaboration with drift legend Mad Mike and his son, Lincoln Whiddett.
Bringing an extensive collection of Mad Mike-specific aftermarket parts.
The update also showcases significant improvements to the damage and collision system, though matching CarX’s mind-blowing damage mechanics will prove challenging.
Mad Mike’s legendary 1974 Mazda 808 station wagon, ‘Fursty’, joins the roster of officially licensed vehicles.
Alongside Lincoln’s Nokidn’ Mazda Miata.
Joined by the ‘Badbul’ Mazda RX8.
Of course, the Mad Mike collection wouldn’t be complete without his infamous Mazda RX7 FD, ‘Madbul’.
The footage of Madbul drifting Madbul at Ebisu is so realistic it could easily be mistaken for actual drone footage.
And we get the first glimpse of the damage in the game as ‘Fursty’ kisses the wall.
However, the update isn’t all about Mad Mike. Adam LZ’s Nissan 240SX makes a spectacular entrance. Eager fans will also notice that he’s tearing up the LZ compound.
That’s because the Torque Drift team scanned the entire compound, and you can shred it in the game!
LZ’s 240SX’s recreation also looks stunning, with plenty more aftermarket parts.
The interior details are equally impressive, showing off the custom LZ mods.
Every detail is meticulous, from the boost gauges to the Pioneer head unit and the Grip Royal steering wheel.
As you probably guessed, the same attention to detail extends throughout Mad Mike’s entire vehicle collection, too.
So, if you’re a PC gamer waiting for CarX Drift Racing 3, consider giving Torque Drift 2 a try.
CarX Tech is known for its ridiculously long update cycles and keeping quiet on release dates. Therefore, now might be the perfect time to experience Torque Drift 2 through the early access sale 25% off on Steam until December 12. There’s also a free demo available for those wanting to test the waters.
If the demo isn’t enough, and you want an entirely free drifting game to enjoy, complete with AI traffic, tuning, and drift challenges, check out the Drift Hunters MAX browser game.
