CarX Street, the highly anticipated open-world racing game from the creators of the hugely popular CarX Drift Racing Online, is finally preparing to launch on PC.
After years of development and a successful mobile launch, the game will be available for PC gamers on August 29, 2024, without the early access that was previously speculated.
It feels as though CarX Street has been in development for PC gamers for an eternity, leaving some fans to joke that GTA 6 might hit the streets first.
The mobile version was released in 2022 after Street’s initial reveal over three years ago. Since then, the PC community has eagerly awaited their turn, becoming increasingly frustrated, leaving comments on the official YouTube videos such as “Can’t wait for this game to come out in 2028.”
But now, the wait is finally over after the CarX team dropped this Shift 2-inspired official announcement trailer!
Later followed on the day before release with this epic gameplay trailer:
What To Expect
Although details are limited, the game will provide an immersive open-world racing experience set in the fictional Sunset City, as seen in the mobile game, offering a diverse landscape, as described in the official description on the CarX Street Steam page:
“Conquer mountain roads, highways, and city streets. Build your dream car with detailed tuning that unleashes the potential of “CarX Technology”© physics. Take part in thrilling races, enjoying realistic gameplay and dynamic driving.”
True to the CarX legacy, players can expect a huge selection of customization options. Like the original CarX Drift Racing games, you can easily create your ultimate drift machine from a huge selection of in-game mods and fine-tuned performance upgrades.
While the cars (as always) won’t have official licensing, they’re unmistakably inspired by real-world favorites, allowing you to build your dream garage without licensing restrictions.
The game will also provide a variety of modes, whether you want to drift or race:
- Point-scoring challenges in parking lots, rewarding precision drifting
- Race scenarios to test your speed and skill
- Online leaderboards to prove your worth against global competition
- Multiplayer battles, including head-to-head tandems and intense chase modes
With urban streets intertwining with twisty touge mountain passes, Sunset City will provide the perfect backdrop for technical drifting and high-intensity racing.
While it’s initially PC-exclusive, Xbox and PlayStation versions are expected to follow shortly. For now, you can add the game to your Steam wishlist and prepare to shred your tires through Sunset City.
Confirmed details for the game are still thin, but as we approach the August 29 release date, we’ll keep you updated on the latest information.
