Forza Horizon 5 Is Finally Confirmed For PS5
After years of rumors, Forza Horizon 5 will finally be available for PlayStation 5 gamers this Spring, with fresh content announced for all platforms.
After years of rumors that many gamers thought they’d never see happen, Forza Horizon 5 is finally confirmed to be heading to PlayStation 5 this Spring, bringing the ultimate open-world Mexican drifting (and racing) experience they’ve been deprived of until now.
Panic Button is leading the PS5 development, working with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. PS fans can wishlist Forza Horizon 5 today and expect it to launch sometime between March and May 2025, bringing everything the current Xbox and PC versions offer.
You’ll be treated to the near-900 car roster from launch, including all 40 post-launch updates. The Hot Wheels expansion and Rally Adventure will be available as optional purchases, but the base game provides plenty to keep you entertained for a while!
Many will be glad to hear that cross-play support is confirmed, which means PS5 players can play with current Xbox and PC racers who’ve had plenty of time to refine their drifting skills!
Alongside the announcement, the team confirmed that a new content update called ‘Horizon Realms’ is also in the works, bringing back popular ‘Evolving Worlds’ events alongside some yet-to-be-revealed content.
The announcement for PlayStation drifting fans is particularly exciting news, especially if you’re into tuning cars and enjoying simple, arcade-style drift physics that aren’t quite as challenging as hardcore sims like Assetto Corsa.
If you’ve not already had the chance to try it, the game’s simple drifting model makes it one of the most satisfying ways to go sideways, and we’ve got plenty of Forza Horizon 5 guides here at Drifted to get you started right away.
First off, you’ll want to get yourself an ideal drift car before starting to learn how to master the art of drifting in the game. Once you’ve got to grips with it, head over to our drift tune guide, where we explain everything you need to know about perfecting your drifting setup to keep your Xbox and PC buddies on their toes!
The game offers plenty beyond drifting, too. If you’re more into stance, plenty of tuning options and widebody cars are available. If you’re more of a racer than a drifter, we recommend checking out the fastest cars on offer, as you’ll need to start saving immediately. You’ll soon realize that some of the cars are pretty pricey!
While it’s been met with a positive reaction from PlayStation gamers, it has left some Xbox fans a little concerned about losing platform exclusives they’ve been able to brag about until now. There are also fresh rumors about a possible Nintendo Switch 2 version in the works, though nothing’s confirmed yet.
For PlayStation fans hoping to play the game in PSVR2, this seems unlikely, especially given the lack of VR in the PC version.
It’s been fascinating to see the change in direction unfold, especially how Microsoft is switching their focus more on getting their games to as many players as possible, regardless of platform, after many years of bitter rivalry between the two console giants.
We’re interested in seeing where things are heading next for the Horizon series. It’s now more likely than ever that they’re working on Forza Horizon 6.
That leaves us with the question – will Forza Horizon 6 launch on all platforms, or is Microsoft strategically releasing the older version to PlayStation (and potentially other consoles) while quietly developing the next exclusive installment and a new console?
