Enjoy GT7’s Hilarious Glitch Before Devs Slam The Brakes
Polyphony’s GT7 physics update accidentally delivers the most entertaining bug yet. Here’s how to enjoy it while you can.
Yesterday, we introduced the awesome new, drift-friendly Version 1.49 update to the Gran Turismo series. It brings new drift-favored handling physics, a new track, six new cars (most of which are somewhat drift-friendly), and plenty of other exciting additions that make it the biggest and best update yet.

While all this is great, things haven’t gone quite according to plan for the development team with the new roll-out, which has had some hilarious consequences.

In the update’s official release, Polyphony Digital stated, “This update introduces new suspension physics and refined tire calculation, resulting in more natural weight shifting during cornering.”

Well, it turns out you get that and MUCH more. They must have missed announcing the part where they’ve made the cars perform like bouncing lowriders before being projected into oblivion.
Well, I guess that’s one way to get a new top speed in the game!
It’s created a welcome change and certainly got the fans talking, with X (formerly Twitter) enjoying making the most of it.

While more serious gamers are stating it’s not ideal for those looking to make the most of the realistic racing experience, you typically need to use some pretty wild settings to make the glitch happen, and it’s not likely to happen by making some minor tweaks to your favorite drift setup.
YouTuber zocker1990 breaks down the settings you’ll need to launch your favorite rides into space. By adjusting the suspension and performance settings, you can turn them into a bouncy spaceship, and you won’t need Elon’s help, either!
If you don’t want to watch the whole video, you can do so by tweaking the following settings. It’s recommended to use the Sambabus Typ 2 ’62 for the best results:
Under “Car Settings”, input the following adjustments:
Suspension (Fully Customisable)
- Damping Ratio (Compression %)
- Front – 20
- Rear – 20
- Damping Ratio (Expansion)
- Front – 50
- Rear – 50
Performance Adjustment
- Ballast – 200
- Ballast Positioning – 50 (Rear)
As you’ll see, it means going way beyond the typical settings and cranking them up to the max.
Once you start a race, you’ll be presented with a crash landing on the track. With a simple press of the accelerator pedal, you’ll get to join the Sambabus party in the sky!
Enjoy messing about with the settings as much as you can for the time being, and be sure to share your highlights with other amused fans.
Polyphony is aware of the issues and has all hands on deck trying to fix them, so enjoy this hilarious, unintended new “feature” while you can!
We are now aware of the following issue in the 1.49 Update released on July 25:
Car Physics Simulation
– Unintended vehicle behavior is produced when a particular car setting is set within Car SettingsThis issue is currently under investigation.
