Mini Drifts Summary

Mini Drifts is a simple yet surprisingly challenging free online game that tests your drifting skills. Set on a basic circular track, it offers a simple drifting experience perfect for quick gaming sessions. For some, it may remind them of the popular “Sling Drift” game.

As you progress, the increasing speed of your car ramps up the difficulty, requiring quicker reflexes and more precise judgment. With its minimalist design and addictive gameplay, Mini Drifts does its best to argue that less is more when it comes to drifting games.

Mini Drifts Controls

The controls couldn’t be simpler:

Browser

  • Turn right/initiate driftPress or Hold the left mouse button

Mobile

  • Turn right/initiate driftPress or Hold the screen

That’s it! We weren’t kidding when we said the game focuses on simplicity.

With just one control to master, the focus is entirely on your timing and angle judgment. Sounds easy enough – right? Well, you’ll soon see that it’s surprisingly challenging!

How To Play Mini Drifts

When you start Mini Drifts, you’ll find yourself on a circular track with an extremely slow (to start with) yet constantly moving red drift car. Here’s how to play:

  • As you approach a turn, click or tap to initiate your drift.
  • Tap or hold to keep the car’s back end out. Maintain your drift through the corner, balancing speed and angle.
  • Release to straighten when exiting the turn.
  • Repeat this process, aiming to chain together smooth, continuous drifts.

The key to success is getting the perfect angle with each drift. Once you initiate, you’re committed to that angle, as there’s no countersteering!

If you’ve turned in too little, you can add more angle by tapping (or holding), but be careful not to overdo it, as you’ll end up crashing into the wall!

As you progress through the game, there are no crazy upgrades or tuning. Check out Drift Hunters MAX instead if that’s what you’re after. The only thing that changes is the ever-increasing speed.

This simple tweak dramatically increases the challenge, requiring quicker decision-making and precise control. No matter how well you think you’ve started to master the game, once it cranks up the speed, you’ll have to adapt accordingly.

Mini Drifts Tips & Tricks

  • Choose your drift angle carefully, and quickly tap the screen if need be. Too much angle will cause a crash, while too little won’t score as many points.
  • Focus on maintaining smooth, continuous drifts rather than huge, aggressive angles and risky moves.
  • Don’t be afraid to drift wide. As you hone your skills, you can start running the walls. Using the entire width of the track will lead to longer and more exciting, higher-scoring drifts.
  • As the game progresses and speed increases, be prepared to adjust your timing and angle. While you can repeatedly tap to “cheat” the game at the start, it gets harder to do this as you progress, but your reward will be the ability to carry out huge skids.
  • If you crash, ask yourself why. Was your angle too aggressive? Did you initiate the drift too late? Use each attempt as a learning experience.
  • Remember, there are no car upgrades or new tracks. Your progress comes solely from improving your skills.

Although its concept is super simple, Mini Drifts can help develop mental skills useful for real-world drifting, such as quick decision-making, angle judgment, and maintaining focus under pressure.

By mastering these tips and dedicating time to practice, you’ll soon find yourself pulling off huge angles around the track like a pro.
