Tokyo Xtreme Racer Enables Steam Cloud Support
Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s latest update brings Steam Cloud saving, enabling players to sync their progress across multiple devices starting today.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s 2025 reboot has surpassed the expectations of many since its Early Access launch on January 23rd, peaking at nearly 16,000 real-time players – pretty impressive for a series that’s been dormant for almost two decades.
Thankfully, the numbers prove there’s still plenty of interest in JDM late-night highway racing games, especially when they’re done this well.
The Early Access rollout has mostly gone smoothly (well, Canada aside!), but many fans have been requesting Cloud Saving, which has been missing until now.
This means that from today you can continue your TXR game progress across multiple devices and switch between your main gaming rig, laptop, or Steam Deck before picking up where you left off.

There’s one slight catch – you’re limited to one save file per account. When using multiple devices, whichever one you fire up first will be the one with the prioritized save file.
If you need separate saves for different devices, you’ll need to disable cloud sync before launching the game. Unsurprisingly, this has already left some fans calling for multiple save support in future updates.
Thankfully, the developers at Genki seem committed to the regular improvements they promised, as shown here, along with the recent Ver.0.10.2 patch that nerfed Melancholic Angel (but don’t worry, she’s still pretty savage!)
Given the Unreal Engine platform, the modding community has also been hard at work adding their own unique touches to the game despite only being Early Access for now. They’ve created everything from VR support with cockpit views to daytime mods.
There’s even a Game Plus+ Save Pack for those who wish to unlock just about anything in the game, although we’d recommend enjoying it to its full potential!
With a few months left in the planned Early Access period, which is expected to end around May, we can expect plenty more updates and improvements before the full release.
Genki’s quick responses to the bugs and fan feedback with features like cloud saves suggest they’re serious about making this revival live up to the series’ legacy, and we’re stoked to see it.
For now, at least you won’t have to email save files to yourself before heading to work with your laptop anymore. (Not that we’d do that… Of course!)
