VIDEO: FD Round 7 – Irwindale – “California Days”
It’s pretty hard to believe that it’s already been a year since the first time I set foot on American soil to witness the spectacle that is Formula Drift at Irwindale. Looking back on it now, a lot has changed…even my editing style has developed since then! Although I’ve been to several FD events since my first visit to California, I still can’t help but be more of a fan when I’m at Irwindale. So many times I probably should’ve been diligently shooting like most of the other photographers and videographers, but instead I just watched with my tongue somewhere near the floor. It’s no wonder they have Irwindale as the final round of the season, because this is the track where all the drivers really can show what they can do. My brother, Pat, went against Rhys Millen in Top 32, and wasn’t able to make it past the monstrous Redbull Genesis. It was unfortunate, of course, but at the same time it made it kinda cool because for the first time ever (if not in a very long time) I was able to hang out and actually just watch Top 16 with the whole crew, rather than running around trying to get cool shots. Mind you, I still shot it from where I was watching, but at least I had my pals with me, which made it a lot of fun. So, after 7 days in the truck, and 4 days in California, I scraped together some footage and made a video. Hopefully you guys enjoy this one, and keep your eyes peeled for more stuff coming from me really soon!
